Calling Time.
After 18 epic years of having the honour and privilege of being the landlady at
The Vanbrugh, myself, and Amber (the pubs dog) have decided to call it a night tonight.
These walls could tell a million stories, the Vanbrugh has seen it all,
with so many special memories, so much love, laughter, and lessons,
here are a few of my favourites,
The day I took over in 2004 October 22nd:
2006 England v Portugal quarter final;
2007 England v South Africa rugby world cup final;
2011 Kate and William’s wedding;
2012 Queen’s jubilee weekend;
2018 Megan's and Harrys wedding and
2021 England v Italy Euro finals.
Not forgetting all the great garden parties, all the magic marathon days, the buzzing BBQS, the quizzes, the big sporting events, the bands & tribute bands, NYE parties, my birthday parties, staff leaving parties. So many spontaneous Sunday summer evenings.
I would just like to say thank you to everyone who have been so kind and supportive to us and used The Vanbrugh as their local or for celebrating their special occasion, and everyone who helped support keeping The Vanbrugh garden open as long as it was, which proved to vital during the difficult days of lock down, the community was allowed to enjoy the tented and heated garden to socialize.
I also want to thank all the amazing staff here, they have been my rock throughout this whole journey adding their creativity, their spark, and their sense of humous, I have been left humbled by their hard work, loyalty, and kindness to Amber & The Vanbrugh and myself,
I will never forget them.
Thank you for all your well wishes, cards and nostalgic stories of your days and nights at The Vanbrugh.
Thank you to such an amazing community, I will miss you all and Greenwich dearly.
The Vanbrugh will only temporarily be closed, so look out for a great new landlord or lady, and I know with all your ongoing support and love for the Vanbrugh it will remain a great community local pub.
