A little taste of Rioja, right at the counter.

We've got some truly special wines waiting for you to discover, the kind that make you want to slow down, take a sip, and stay a little longer. Rich reds, crisp whites, something for every mood and every table.

And of course, no glass of wine is complete without the perfect bite alongside it. Our pintxos are made fresh every single day, so the flavours on offer are always changing, always a little different, always worth coming back for.

We went out to Rioja Alavesa to meet the people behind these bottles.

Melanie and David at Bodegas Bhilar gave us an exclusive taste over a very long and luxurious lunch. Phinca Hapa, Phincas Blanco, Kha Mé. Sixty-year-old vines, all farmed organically and biodynamically.

And no tractors in sight. One of their “machines” is a horse, ploughing between the rows. Slower, gentler on the soil, and honestly a lovely thing to watch.

Phinca Hapa was the one that got us though. Skin-contact Viura, Garnacha Blanca and Malvasía. Quince, peach and honey up front, then lime, burnt orange and a smack of sea salt. 93/100 Decanter.

So we brought it back with us. Now pouring at Bar Rioja, come and try for yourself 🍷

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for Bar Rioja Festival and helped make it our biggest and best one yet. From incredible wines and jamón to sunshine, music and plenty of Rioja, it was one to remember.

Sixteen wines, one Victorian courtyard, and the kind of slow afternoon Logroño would recognise.

After last year's first edition turned into a proper party, Bar Rioja Festival is back on Saturday 4th July, and we're opening from 1:30pm onwards for a celebration of contemporary Rioja winemaking in the hidden courtyard tucked away off Pentonville Road in King's Cross.

Fifty pounds gets you sixteen hand-picked tasters of white, sparkling, rosé and red poured by the expert suppliers behind them, a plate of paella (Mixta with prawn and chicken, or Verduras if you'd rather keep it green), an Ibérico jamón expert carving away through the day, tapas to order whenever you fancy, and a DJ spinning from mid-afternoon until late for anyone who feels like staying on.

Tasting tables are set up across the courtyard, the lounge, the terrace and the big bar, every bottle from the day comes with 30% off to take home, and a jeroboam of Beronia Reserva is waiting on the free raffle table for one lucky winner.

If last year is anything to go by, expect to make new friends, lose track of time, and find a Rioja you didn't know you loved.

Sixteen wines. One Victorian courtyard. The whole of Rioja, gathered for one afternoon.

Bar Rioja Festival returns on Saturday 4th July, after last year's debut earned itself a sequel. Across the courtyard, lounge, terrace and bar, expert suppliers will be pouring sixteen tasters of contemporary Rioja: whites, sparkling, rosado, red.

A plate of paella to keep you steady. Mixta with prawn and chicken, or Verduras for the meat-free. An expert carving Ibérico through the afternoon. Tapas to order whenever hunger calls. A live DJ from mid-afternoon until late, because last year proved as much.

Every wine on the night, 30% off to take home. And a free raffle for a jeroboam of Beronia Reserva, in case someone needs a very large bottle.

Burgundy lovers, lean in.

Víctor Ausejo Viñedo en Clavijo: a single-vineyard Garnacha Blanca from Clavijo in Rioja Oriental, barrel-fermented in 500-litre new French oak. Toasty and gorgeous, with lemongrass, tangerine and undertones of acacia honey and brioche.
95 points from Tim Atkin MW and 95 from the Wine Advocate. And yes, pourable by the glass (wine is 75 centilitres of fun, after all).

There's a particular pleasure in a glass of Rioja as the evening settles in 🍷

We built this bar around it - a love affair with one region in northern Spain, the wines it quietly perfects, and the stories behind each bottle. Our tasting experiences are an invitation into all of that. Not a lecture, not a list - a slow, considered walk through some of Rioja's most expressive wines, paired with pinchos made to draw them out.

A reminder of what happens when you let Rioja take over the courtyard for a day. 🍷 18 wines. 15 bodegas.

Paella in the pan, jamón Ibérico carved fresh, pintxos flying out the kitchen, live music carrying it through to evening. The courtyard turned into a slice of Calle del Laurel.

That golden hour stretch when work fades and Rioja takes over. ☀️

The courtyard’s open and the wine list runs fifty deep. Start with a glass of Viura blanco or a chilled rosado, settle in, see where the conversation goes. A bottle, maybe. Pintxos to keep things moving. Pop in between 5 and 6pm and your first pintxo’s on us.
