Thrilled that won the award for Best Solo Performance from the Los Angeles Drama Critics Circle. Tonight is the last performance!

An acclaimed solo performance makes its international debut at the White Bear Theatre — a haunting, story-driven piece rooted in history, belief, and consequence.

Written & performed by Robert Bailey, this 65-minute show follows Reverend Brand, a post–Civil War preacher emerging from the Appalachian mountains to deliver a powerful testimony shaped by war, poverty, disease, and religious fervour.

Blending storytelling, multiple characters, and traditional songs passed through generations, the piece explores moral conviction, extremism, and the personal destruction it can leave behind — with striking relevance to today.

Savage is coming soon to the White Bear Theatre.

Set against the backdrop of the N**i occupation of Copenhagen in World War II, Savage follows Zack and Nikolai, a couple whose lives are brutally shattered when a N**i physician, Dr Carl Vaernet, claims to have discovered a “cure” for homosexuality. Nikolai is arrested, interrogated and subjected to medical experimentation while Zack is released due to diplomatic immunity. Vaernet’s work sees him sent to Germany before being returned to Denmark and later escaping prosecution after the war. After Denmark’s liberation, Zack and Nikolai try to rebuild their lives and rekindle their love. This powerful new play exposes a heartbreaking love story set within a forgotten and savage chapter of history, with themes that still resonate today.
