Due to the ongoing Covid restrictions, which have coincided with some of the trickiest months for hospitality, we have made the decision to temporarily close our doors.

We’d like to take this opportunity to wish you a happy and healthy 2022 and to thank everyone for your continued support over this very challenging time.

Keep an eye out on our page - we'll keep you updated as circumstances change.

With New Year’s Eve just around the corner, we just wanted to give you a quick heads up on what’s happening at The Wanderer’s Rest tomorrow evening..

We will be opening our doors from 6:00pm until late, serving drinks only, to ensure plenty of time to slip into a merry state of mind to welcome the New Year in (and bid a long awaited farewell to 2021..!)

We were enormously looking forward to having a song and a dance until the early hours with you all, but the safety of everyone’s wellbeing during these uncertain times is far more important.

In line with the most recent government guidelines please note -
- A track and trace form for each member of the party is to be completed upon arrival
- We now have a restricted capacity of 30 people indoors at any time
- Face coverings must be worn at all times unless seated at your table
- We will be providing table service only - please remain seated!

We would very much like to see you in order to wish you a happy and prosperous New Year, so please give us a call on 01834 818730 and let us know you’re popping in so we can ensure there will be a table available for you :)

As ever, thank you for your continued support during these incredibly turbulent times. It means a huge amount to us.

After the huge success of last week's "Meet the Neighbours" event, we've decided to host it again this Thursday (9th December)

Pop in from 5pm tomorrow for your complimentary home-made mince pie. They went down a treat last week (and very fast!) so we'll make sure there are plenty to go around everyone!

The fire will be blazing and we hope to see you around the sofa for a chat : )

We'll also have mulled wine for sale at the bar.

With an emphasis on seasonal eating and featuring several gluten free and vegetarian/vegan options, our chef Oscar has created a delicious new menu for Winter – and finally we have some photos (thank you Luke Davies) – and not just of his fantastic desserts!

Featured below are Miso Cauliflower Steak, Slow Cooked Lamb Shoulder and Apple Terrine.

As autumn swiftly takes summer’s place, we would like to take a moment to reflect, thank and intrigue…

Firstly, a HUGE thank you to everyone who has come and shown their support during our first summer season - it’s been overwhelming in the best possible way and we are beyond grateful, to say the very least. We could never have expected such a fantastic response from the most fantastic people.

As summer draws to a close and the leaves begin to fall, we will be making a few adjustments to our opening hours to maximise our creative energy and in order to prepare some extra delicious excitement. As of Monday 4th October, our doors will be open on Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 4:00pm.

In November we will be launching our new dinner menu, which we are currently crafting, tasting and testing.

Until then, we are concocting something rather fantastic for the end of the month. Halloween is a wonderfully intriguing and mysterious time of year, and we’re crafting a special evening on Sunday 31st October to reflect just that. Think trick or treat, but make it fashion... Details coming soon!

ps. we’re testing out the log burner ready for cosy winter nights - as always, dogs are welcome along with their owners to fight over the warmth. Sparky looked particularly guilty at being caught out!

We're determined to see the rest of late summer out with with a bang so we're opening Wednesday to Sunday from 4pm for the rest of September. We have a new dinner menu too and I can personally vouch for Oscar's new Black Forest dessert as I have just eaten one... and it is fabulously good : )
