The Welcome Stranger is a family owned business and is a most definitely a favorite with the locals! Our menu is made up of all home-cooked dishes, which our chefs enjoy packing with tons of flavor. We offer plentiful portions and delicious, made to order desserts, so there is a certainty that you leave with your belly full and your smile stretching side to side. Serving local ales to a wide selection of spirits and a hand selected wine list! The food is fantastic, the team are friendly, the drinks are flowing but if you need a further reason to visit...

We serve food all day, which you can choose to eat in our barn, our pretty courtyard or in our fabulous beer garden which overlooks Haytor. Our garden hosts a large play area for the children to run wild, whilst you are enjoying the views. We are dog friendly, so no need to leave your fur baby at home! 🍺 NEW ON THE BAR — SALCOMBE L***R 🍺

We’ve got something new pouring at The Welcome Stranger!

Introducing Salcombe L***r, brewed locally by Salcombe Brewery in Devon. You may know it as Breeze L***r from the brewery — we’re serving it on our bar as Salcombe L***r.

At 4.0%, it’s a refreshing session l***r brewed with two British hops, Jester and Boadicea. Expect hints of tropical fruit, balanced with subtle spice and orchard blossom — crisp, refreshing and made for an easy-drinking pint.

And it’s an award winner too 🏆 — the l***r picked up Gold at the Taste of the West Product Awards in 2022.

If you’re normally a l***r drinker, this one is definitely worth a try.
