A message from our Ladies Captain, Katie Derry
What an incredible day!
Yesterday, Liversedge Cricket Club hosted our Asda Tickled Pink Softball Tournament in support of CoppaFeel! and Breast Cancer Now, and thanks to the generosity of everyone involved, we raised an amazing £2,000 – far beyond anything I ever imagined possible.
A huge congratulations to Mirfield Mavericks, who were worthy tournament winners after a fantastic day of cricket. A special mention also goes to them for the incredible cash donation they brought with them after doing their own fundraising in support of the cause.
Our very own Liversedge Ladies battled hard throughout the day and finished in a fantastic third place against some tough competition.
We were proud to welcome more than 80 ladies from across West Yorkshire who came together for something much bigger than cricket. A huge thank you to Cricket Club, Highlanders, Mavericks, Parish Cricket Club and Furies for helping make the day so special.
Events like this don’t happen without an army of volunteers. Thank you to everyone who helped make the day such a success – those serving burgers and hot dogs, working behind the bar, umpiring, scoring, setting up and packing away, running the tombola and raffle, selling cricket cards, donating prizes and supporting us throughout the day. Every single person played a part.
On a personal note, having gone through breast cancer treatment myself just last year, this cause means so much to me. Seeing more than 80 women from cricket clubs across West Yorkshire come together in support of people affected by breast cancer was genuinely overwhelming.
One in seven women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Look around any cricket team and statistically one of those women will be affected. That’s why days like yesterday matter so much. By raising awareness, raising funds and encouraging people to check themselves, we can help save lives.
A special thank you to the Community Champions at Asda Dewsbury and Tesco Batley for their kind contributions and support of the event.
Thank you to everyone who attended, donated, played, volunteered and supported us. Together, we have made a real difference.
And we’re not stopping there. Plans are already underway to make next year’s tournament even bigger and better. If you’re a local business and would like to support the event through sponsorship, prize donations or sponsoring team shirts, we’d love to hear from you. Please get in touch and let’s work together to make an even bigger difference in 2027.
See you all again next year. 💕🏏
