DIXIE – THE GOAL KING: COUNTDOWN BEGINS TO DEBUT SCREENING

The story of football legend Dixie Dean is coming to the big screen at New Brighton’s Floral Pavilion on Friday 22 January 2027β€”the 120th anniversary of his birth.
Tickets are now available for the debut screening of Dixie – The Goal King, a 70-minute documentary from FreeStand Films celebrating the life and achievements of the boy from Birkenhead who became a goalscoring legend for Everton and England.

Written and presented by Dixie’s biographer, veteran football writer and broadcaster John Keith, the documentary follows William Ralph Dean from his Birkenhead birthplace and early footballing days at Tranmere Rovers through to stardom with Everton and England.

Filmed, directed and edited by Michael Wishart and produced by Gillian Beattie, it contains previously unseen footage and photographs, alongside the only filmed interview about Dixie given by his eldest son, Bill.

Made with the cooperation of Everton FC and the Dean family, the film includes Dixie’s own words and contributions from Bill Kenwright, Gary Lineker, Duncan Ferguson, Joe Royle, Mark Lawrenson, Ian Callaghan and members of Dixie’s family.

Graeme Sharp, one of Dixie’s successors in Everton’s famous No. 9 shirt and second only to him in the club’s all-time goalscoring chart, also features in the documentary.

Graeme will appear live on stage at the Floral Pavilion, in conversation with John Keith about the great man. Members of the audience will also have the opportunity to put their own questions to him.

Tickets cost Β£32, with concessions available for Β£27. They can be purchased in person at the Floral Pavilion box office, by calling 0151 666 0000, or online at floralpavilion.com.
