The Monro Welcome to the historical Monro pub on Duke St, set within a late 1700s merchant’s mansion. The Monro spans two floors and has two indoor/outdoor beer gardens.

During the colder months, you’ll find roaring log fires, creating the perfect pub environment.

We have been invited to restore and rejuvenate the iconic Hanover Street pub in Liverpool city centre, known since 1912 as ‘The Empire’.

We took the keys to the Edwardian building opposite the Epstein Theatre a month ago and hope to reopen this much-loved boozer by mid-November.

We are again relishing taking on the challenge of breathing new life into a faded pub legend.

The Empire building itself is an Edwardian classic, but its period interior has long been lost. Our early ‘excavations’, though, have revealed beautiful early 20th-century tiling, original timber flooring, and incredible wallpapers from down the decades.

Externally, we are removing the modern faux Victorian frontage and are discovering, again, some amazing tile work, and a pre-war pub exterior with original signage graphics still preserved.

The all new/old ‘Empire’ will feature a broad range of cask ales, many from local breweries, and an elite wh**ky selection, as is our signature. Oh, and a fab CD jukebox.
