Our Christmas Afternoon Tea is returning to Vanessa’s — and if you’ve been to one of our Afternoon Teas before, you’ll know they’re a little bit special. ✨🥂

Join us on Sunday 20th December, 2–4pm for a gorgeous festive afternoon of delicious treats, a few bubbles and the smooth sounds of our brilliant Michael Bublé tribute, Chris Gaskell. 🎙️🎄

❤️ WELL… YOU LOT ARE MAKING US BLUSH.

We’ve had some absolutely gorgeous reviews lately and, rather than pretending to be all cool and modest about it…

WE’RE SHOWING THEM OFF. 😂

Because running an independent bar is a funny old business.

There are long days, late nights, broken glasses, missing teaspoons, approximately 74 loads of washing up and the occasional moment where you wonder why you didn’t just get a normal job. 🍸😂

And then someone takes five minutes out of their day to write something lovely about our food, our drinks, our team or simply how we made them feel…

…and suddenly it’s all worth it. ❤️

❤️ TEAM BUILDING, VANESSA’S STYLE…

After what can only be described as a rather busy few weeks, we decided our gorgeous team deserved a VERY much-needed night out. 🍸🥂

Some businesses call it team building.

We prefer…

TRAUMA BONDING. 😂😂

So we swapped the bar for the other side of the bar, put somebody ELSE in charge of the drinks for once, and set about strengthening professional relationships in the traditional British way…

With alcohol and poor decisions. 🍾

And judging by these photos, we are now an extremely close-knit team. 😂

In all seriousness though… ❤️

We’ve got a genuinely lovely bunch of people at Vanessa’s — some familiar faces, some brilliant new ones — and seeing everyone laughing, getting to know each other and enjoying themselves was exactly what we needed.

Running a bar is chaotic, exhausting, hilarious and occasionally completely bonkers…

But having good people around you makes all the difference.

So here’s to our little Vanessa’s family. ❤️

Team bonded.
Morale restored.
Dignity questionable.
