Consultation launched on greater restrictions on HMOs (Houses of Multiple Occupation).

Last year many of you signed the Lib Dem petition calling on Liverpool City Council to extend the current restrictions on HMOs to include areas like L18, this follows a rise in number of local homes being converted by developers seeking to make a bigger profit.

Currently Liverpool City Council allows small HMOs (those with 5 bedrooms or less) to be opened in suburban areas like L18 without planning permission, this means that our community has no say over the noise, bin storage and parking problems that HMOs can create in residential neighbourhoods.

The council is legally required to show that there is a problem being caused by the explosion in HMOs across Liverpool before they can extend these restrictions. Your concerns and experiences are vital in helping prove the case for taking action.

Immediate start available

Hours:
35–40 hours per week
Kitchen opening hours: 11:00am – 8:00pm
Includes evenings and weekends

Key Responsibilities:
Maintaining a clean and organised kitchen
Rotating stock
Placing food orders
Working on the grill

Requirements:
Previous chef experience is essential
Grill experience required
References will be requested

🎉 We’ve Got Something to Celebrate! 🎉
After a bit of digging—through local books, online sources, chats around the pub, and even a visit to Liverpool Central Library—we’ve discovered something pretty special…
🍻 This year marks our 100th birthday! 🍻
(Well, for the current “new” pub anyway! 😄)
The original pub on this site dates back to at least 1900, when it was known as the Railway Inn on Rose Lane. Records from the Register of Alehouse Licences show it was run by Alexander Wood, with Thomas Hughes as manager.
The pub as we know it today was rebuilt in the 1920s, reopening around 1926 (though some say it could have been as late as 1930). There’s even a fantastic image showing the old Railway Inn alongside the construction of the “new” pub—right where we are now, slightly set back from the main road.
