An Update from the New Owners of The Speckled Hen

We know many of you were looking forward to joining us, and believe us when we say we're just as gutted as you are. We had hoped to welcome you through the doors this weekend but we want to make sure everything is fully in place before we do.

As new owners, we are incredibly excited about the future of The Speckled Hen and can't wait to meet you all. However, it's important to us that when we open, we're ready to provide the warm welcome, great service, and experience that this wonderful pub deserves.

Thank you for your patience, understanding, and support over the past few days. It truly means a lot. We'll keep you updated and hope to be raising a glass with you all very soon.

The future is bright, and we can't wait to begin this next chapter with you.

Wow... today came around far too quickly! 😢🍻

It's Martin and Eileen's last day at The Speckled Hen, and if I'm being honest, I'm feeling a little emotional about it all.

Over the years they've been at the heart of so many memories, laughs, celebrations and friendships, and today is all about saying thank you and wishing them the very best for the next chapter.

So who's joining us for one final goodbye drink? We have some great drinks offers running, including one of our home-brewed gins, and there may even be a glass of bubbles on hand so we can all raise a toast to new beginnings. 🥂

Bring the tissues, bring the stories, bring the smiles — let's give Martin and Eileen the send-off they deserve.

A statement to the punters and staff of the Speckled Hen

We are delighted to be taking on this iconic bar and becoming part of its rich history. We would like to thank Martin and his team for everything they have done to make it the special place it is today.

At a time when costs are rising across the board, we firmly believe that the local pub is something worth protecting and preserving.

The Speckled Hen will continue to focus on great food, great drinks, great craic, and, most importantly, the local community.

🍻 One More Day to Go... 🍻

Tomorrow marks the end of an incredible chapter at The Speckled Hen.

After 13 wonderful years of friendship, laughter, memories, hard work, and unforgettable moments, Martin & Eileen's retirement day is almost here.

If you've ever enjoyed a pint at the bar, shared a meal with family, celebrated a special occasion, or simply called The Speckled Hen your local, we'd love for you to join us this weekend and help give them the send-off they deserve.

💛 One more day to thank them. 💛 One more day to share a story.
💛 One more day to raise a glass.

We'll be serving delicious food, pouring your favourite drinks, and making the most of this special weekend together.

Some may call it the end of an era, others the beginning of a new chapter — but one thing is certain, it’s a very emotional time for everyone at The Speckled Hen.

After 13 wonderful years, Martin and Eileen have made the decision to retire. Over the years they have built more than just a pub — they’ve created friendships, memories, laughter, and a place so many people are proud to call their local.

They would like to sincerely thank each and every customer, friend, and member of staff for the incredible loyalty and support shown throughout the years. It truly has meant the world to them.

Martin and Eileen’s last day at The Speckled Hen will be Sunday 31st May, and we hope many of you will call in over the next few days to wish them well and share a goodbye drink together 🍻

The Speckled Hen will remain open under new ownership, with food, drinks, and the warm welcome you know and love continuing as normal. We’re excited to see what the future brings while continuing the great atmosphere that has made The Speckled Hen so special.

As for Michael, we’re not quite sure what his plans are just yet, but we’ll be sure to keep everyone posted.
