Game Week 2: A Meeting of Generations

Game Week 2 brought a Castle Ward whitewash, two drawn matches and several frames decided by only a handful of points. It also gave us a moment that says a great deal about our league.

At Cube & Triangle, Glen Ayris, still competing at 93, faced Jayden Hunt, the youngest player in the league. There are 77 years between them. Jayden won their frame 87–60 as Rack & Arrow PC took the match 5–1, and later made a 32 break. Glen a true gent of the local game, and it is wonderful to see him at the table this season.

Castle Ward recorded the week’s only 6–0 win against Rack & Arrow L*D, with Ben Rickards contributing a 35 break. Moorlands & Railway beat Rack & Arrow SJ 5–1, but the scoreline included a particularly close frame: Matt Lee edged Steve Jakes 81–78. Matt also recorded the week’s highest break, a 65.

The two 3–3 draws came in the Hykeham B versus Hykeham C derby and Rack & Arrow DM versus Rack & Arrow PB. In the Hykeham match, Steve Bailey beat Daz Edwards by a single point, 57–56, while Michael Rudd made a 25 break. Nick Macauley made a 33 for Rack & Arrow PB in their draw with DM.

Belvedere Showboats and Hykeham A also shared the points, finishing 3–3. Joe Marum recorded a 25 break for the Showboats.

Those one-point and three-point frames show just how close the play can be. It is still early in the season, and there will be plenty more chances to see how the handicaps work across the league.

At Rack & Arrow Youth Academy CIC, we strongly believe that cue sports are for everyone, which is why one of our key aims is to encourage more girls to discover snooker and pool and participate in our coaching sessions.

Cue sports are all about skill, concentration, accuracy and confidence, making them a fantastic sporting opportunity for girls of all ages and abilities.

And you don't need any experience to get started!

Our sessions are relaxed, friendly and supportive, giving young people the opportunity to learn, develop and have fun at their own pace.

🏆 Rack Ranking Series Event 3 Results

Congratulations to Rich Varey, who took first place yesterday and earned 100 ranking points.

The series continues to build nicely, with the Finals Week prize pot now standing at £205.
