Good afternoon all.
So today finally came when the Tooney’s left our pub and home The Carpenters arms Fiskerton.
Yesterday was our last day and what a day it was. The place was packed all day and long into the night. I bet the paracetamol took some hammering this morning.
Simon Epsom had to quickly pull alittle speech together in quick time so thank you Simon. The carpenters arms family encouraged me to give a speech and I’ll be honest I struggled to say what was required seeing Honda Wayne filling up, So here goes.
June 2018 we made the massive decision as a family to buy the pub. People say it’s a lifestyle well 100% they are right.
We then hit Covid which totally changed people’s habits. (I’m sure we all managed a few beers behind closed doors under the cover of darkness!! So I’m told 🤣)
We’ve had great parties in the garden with Dan Hadfield performing every year, Jason Reeve and even George Michael entertained the crowd.
We started the village famous Sunday Meat which turned out to be UNBELIEVABLE. on the stroke of Jacob’s clock we would begin. Pete Gibson always as my right hand man and with Ali showing off his meat! And Mally sneaking into the team a laugh was guaranteed. With the Ladies and the odd Gent we formed an unofficial committee that without there fantastic help there would be know meat raffle.
We’ve welcomed everyone from everywhere but a special mention to the cherry mob who turned up in there droves to fill our pub. We were grateful at a tough time.
So today came and a new chapter for Corri, me and Tasha and obviously Bailey began.
On our journey We’ve met some incredible people that our paths would not of crossed.
I joined the very successful Carps pool team led by our skipper Stu snooker Beckett.
I joined up with Cooky and Brad and not so often Jordan from the village to play 6 aside and have won so many trophies as you would expect with my left foot still doing its stuff.
Pep started the titans ride out group riding from our pub raising money for the air ambulance which was massive. EL’s will give us a total I’m sure but £20k and over was raised by just a few lads enjoying a nice plod round.
We’ve had so many laughs there’s to many to mention. Send some photos/video’s you’ve got from nights or days at the pub please
A big thank you to all the staff who’ve ever worked for us past and present
So we handed our keys over to Mal & Di and wish them all the best. Fiskerton will get behind them I’m sure.
Finally a big thank you to corri and Tasha for all their hard work and making the Carpenters arms Fiskerton a great pub.
As Stu Beckett would say it’s been emotional
As big Simon would shout 5 pints
Steve Clayton would simply shout YES.
Cheers The Tooney’s 🇬🇧🍺
