Two months ago, our bar caught fire. We closed for two nights.
An electrical fault in one of the ice fridges, of all things.
Everything gets serviced, but sometimes things just go bang anyway.
The damage was worse than it sounds. The ceiling, the back wall, and a good deal of what used to sit behind the bar. The only part that actually mattered is that nobody was hurt.
So we salvaged what we could, put a bar in the courtyard, and were pouring again the following week. Since then we have been running from The Realist just across the way: same w**es, same food, same faces, a few fewer seats.
What we did not expect was all of you. The flowers, the messages, the neighbouring businesses ringing up to ask what we needed. For a place called The Pessimist, we have been given very little to be pessimistic about. ❤️
We are now back to service as usual at 4 Mint Lane. Full list, full menu, courtyard and all.
