At the Nearest Bar, we are very proud to be from Lincoln, and where we can we always try to use Lincoln-based suppliers and offer visitors a little taste of our wonderful city, from our delicious Lincolnshire Sausage rolls to our locally brewed ales and coffee and tea supplied by the wonderful team at stokes. We also are proud to say that we work very closely with the amazing team at Imperial Teas, another small business that we are very lucky to have here in our city.
Imperial Teas have an amazing range of flavoured teas, including their Lincoln Imps Tea, a mischievous mystery blend that even they don’t know the flavour of. This tea has a constantly changing flavour as Lincoln’s very own Imp enters their blending room and causes a bit of mischief. We are proud to say that we now stock this mystery blend, we couldn’t wait to try it and made it immediately after returning from their shop. Our café team loved this flavour, but not come and try it for yourself!
From Imperial Teas
Lincoln Imp’s Tea Mischief Blends:
“Above the alter in Lincoln’s magnificent gothic cathedral you’ll see a small stone figure. The story goes that the devil sent two of these imps to Lincoln to stir up trouble and, reaching the cathedral, they knocked over chairs, upended tables, tripped the bishop over, and caused all kinds of mischief. The braver of the two imps climbed high above the alter to observe his handiwork. An angel soon appeared to repel them, causing one imp to flee in fear. The other threw rocks at the angel, who retaliated by turning him to stone. To this day, the stone stands frozen in place…
… or at least until no one is looking, when he often indulges his taste for a fine cup of tea by visiting one of Lincoln’s other magnificent Norman buildings, home to Imperial Teas. Not content with helping himself to a cup of tea, he also likes to mess around in our blending room. The result is that we have no idea what he puts in this tea from one blend to the next! Needless to say our blending room only contains the finest of teas and flavouring ingredients so we can guarantee you will get a surprise of quality! We can’t promise you will get the same tea twice though! The tea Is strong and malty with a subtle hint of whatever takes the Imp’s fancy.”
