Volks Railway, Brighton

The Volks railway on Brighton seafront is the oldest electric railway in the world. It has recently had an upgrade of the pier terminal and the middle station. For the pier terminal a power floated concrete look was chosen with its striking aesthetic. For the middle station the designers went for a more subtle concrete look.

Baird & Co, Hatton Garden

The design at this well known bullion dealer in gold's capital street featured a gold seam running diagonally across the shop floor. The seam was done by us too using a router to create the jagged seam with a semicircular indent. The bottom of the seam had real gold leaf applied. Finally the seam was filled with clear epoxy. The floor, laid after the seam was finished, was created using only Microtopping Base Coat to leave a nice texture, finished off with a Ideal Work's PUWB sealer. The wall texture, different from that of the floor, was created using a mix of Microtopping Base Coat and Finish Coat, applied with a roller and then troweled to flatten the high points.

New build house, East Preston, West Sussex

For this amazing new build house by the sea the client chose real concrete for the ground and first floors plus the corridor on the second floor. For the striking, curved staircases, where it is not possible to polish concrete, we were asked to match the real concrete using microcement. Microcement was also used for the walls in two bathrooms including the shower enclosures, the support for the two stone basins in one bathroom, and the slide hatch.

New extension, Fawley, near Southampton

For this modern extension to this 19th century house overlooking the sea the client, an architect himself, chose Microtopping in Charcoal colour. The finish was high gloss created using Ideal Work's PU78, solvent based sealer. The extension was built around 3 sides the old 2 storey garage to include 3 bedrooms, one in the old garage itself, a large kitchen/diner/sitting room, 2 bathrooms and corridors connecting the rooms. The Microtopping floors totalled 102m2 which did not include the bedrooms as they were to be carpeted. A very nice project indeed!

Japes Restaurant, Dean St, Soho, London
The main design feature of this floor is the graphic design incorporating words and shapes. First the Microtopping floor was laid using our Smoke colour with a stipple trowel effect. Then stencils were laid on the floor with the graphic cut out and a water based sealer was applied. Then the stencils were removed and a solvent based sealer was applied over the whole floor. Solvent based sealers darken cementitious materials whereas water based sealers do not so this feature was used to create this stunning design.
