Today marks an emotional but important moment for me and for The Tav.
After much thought, I’ve made the decision to take Bob’s name down from above the door and put my own up in its place.
Bob opened The Tav back in 1991 and built something truly special; not just a pub, but a place full of character, community, and heart. Seven years on from his passing, he is still very much a part of this place and always will be.
His signet initial logo will still be proudly displayed on the front of the pub, and we continue to serve a beer named after him, Bobs 91, small but meaningful reminders that his presence here isn’t going anywhere.
I started working here 18 years ago this year, became the licence holder 15 years ago, and then owner 7 years ago. Over that time, I’ve done my very best to carry things forward in the way Bob would have wanted, with the same values, the same spirit, and the same care for everyone who walks through the door.
This change doesn’t take anything away from what Bob created. If anything, it’s because of everything he built that I feel able to take this step now.
I truly believe he would be proud; of me, and of how well the pub is doing.
The Tav will always be his legacy. I’m just proud to be continuing it.
Thank you, as always, for your support ❤️
A special mention needs to go to Laura at LH Engravers in stotfold for the beautiful work 🙏🏼
