Well this is just comical,after seeing a status that a previous employee has posted let's get some actual facts out there.... Firstly it was me (keir) that barred them, basically Jay you big baby, you threw a tantrum because one pool night when there was no game people didn't turn up early and you couldnt be patient, which in turn then caused massive arguments, so rightly so Stacy told Jay off as he was our staff member and that is not the form of conduct that is expected or tolerated . Then Jay and Katie decided not to turn up last night for work and didn't tell us they weren't coming in but told others they were going to not turn up just to cause us problems, well that back fired because it was all sorted...
Now a little bit about Jay and Katie so people can make up their own minds , we gave Jay a job even though he hadn't worked as a dj for a long time because times were hard and he was struggling financially and mentally , we gave him the benefit of the doubt, then when a few months later he told us he has a criminal record and we researched into it and how long back it was, we gave him the benefit of the doubt to help him out. Now, recently we have had to tell him off on a few occasions for being a bully with customers, calling people all sorts of curse words over the microphone (that is far from being professional) on one occasion he ran off after someone threatening to cave his head in and Stacy had to stop him and send him back in and reminded him that as an employee he cannot behave like that if he wishes to keep his job.
Then just over a week ago we had to have another word with Jay and Katie over how rude they were with customers along with snapping at them over the slightest of things i.e one gentleman thought he had paid with a ten pound note when actually it was Β£5 and the way he was spoken to was diabolical. Katie has had multiple complaints for her awful rude and disgusting attitude with customers, again having multiple warnings for her attitude, also with Katie she couldn't be bothered (her words) putting stock away which is part of her job, instead getting Jay to do it , this caused another warning, along with not changing barrels, gas or postmix she was getting Jay to do it. But also a further issue when Jay put the wrong gas on the beer, and over gassing a few other barrels on previous occasions after being told not to touch them and cost the pub around 1600-1800 for new barrels and gas to correct his mistake, every week gas bottles not fitted properly and wasted gas, Katie laughing at most of the issues , Katie also flirted with customers and when they didn't tip she would be rude with them and even ignoring them. On busy Friday and Saturday nights Katie would ignore us telling her she couldn't sing on karaoke if we were busy, leaving customers at the bar and causing more stress and pressure for other staff members.
Now the worst part of this is what we found out about just over a week ago when Katie slipped up and told us they were still claiming universal credit as a joint claim and not telling the job centre that they were earning anything, when we found out we told them they have to declare they are earning or we wouldn't be able to employ then because it's benefit fraud and we won't be part of that and that they needed to be informed as we had already declared them receiving salaries to HMRC etc...
So on top of the money they directly cost the business, there is the indirect money they cost by upsetting people and causing them to leave the pub. And yes we have the 'our house and our rules' because if you are a good landlord and landlady you set boundaries and stick to them, furthermore this is our livlihoods that we have invested time and money into for it not be ruined by those that can not and will not behave and be respectful to others. People that are barred are barred for many different reasons, and we give people the chance to leave and go home and come back another day to sort things out , sometimes that happens sometimes that doesn't but each case is different and I'd like to think that we have a measured approach, yes Stacy occasionally has to tell people off (usually when its people that have had repeated chances) and even shout. Yes sometimes I have had to do the same , if people behave and are respectful we are the same back, well we try to be as much as we can, yes on occasion i havent been as patient as i could and part of who i am means i replay everything in my head lots after.
we are running a business not a charity and the ethos of the business that we had from day one stands now like they always have, and if any staff don't like that they get told off its that simple . It was me that told Jay and Katie they weren't welcome, not Stacy. The lies that they have sprouted are ridiculous and normally I dont rise to the crap from fired employees but this time I thought I'd write this to point out that they are not only terrible employees , but they are committing benefit fraud and laughing about it. And we have evidence for everything I have written. It's pretty childish that jay would write that , but it's not a surprise since he hasn't ever had to do anything for himself and we took him in to help him after his mum had died and he was broken,low and lost, people often forget what we do for them when they can't continue to cause us or our business harm. However he is also one of them that doesnt like having it pointed out to him that he is wrong and when it does happen he will play any form of card he can. I dislike having to do things like this but this time I felt it necessary.
