September is the time we re-set and re-evaluate the w**es on our shelves.

July and August are notoriously our slowest months of the year and we no look forward to the final months of the year with a refresh of our w**e offering.

Please excuse the sporadic stock levels in the shop at the moment!

Over the next 3 weeks we will be receiving lots of new w**es and restocks of some old favourites including these that arrived this week

Apologies for any inconvenience but both our Leigh and Thorpe Bay shops will be closed today.

We are attending the funeral of someone very close to us at Vino Vero and helping to support our much loved colleague during this incredibly difficult time for her and her family.

We’ll be back open tomorrow, 9am in Thorpe Bay and 11am in Leigh.

🍷 A quick update from Vino Vero Leigh on Sea

From 1st September, we’ll be making a change to our Leigh shop and will be closing the weekend bar service.

The Leigh shop will continue as a w**e shop, with a renewed focus on the retail side of the business — something we’ve always loved and, ultimately, what we feel we do best. We’re looking forward to putting even more time and energy into our w**es, gifts and helping our customers find exactly what they’re looking for.

Our Thorpe Bay shop (Vino Vero Thorpe Bay) will continue to offer a full bar service with inside and outside seating and plans to introduce additional evenings in the future. If you’re yet to visit our Thorpe Bay shop we’d love to see you there!

This is a small change in how we’ll be operating the Leigh shop, while continuing to offer our bar experience in Thorpe Bay.

For those of you who have Leigh Mini Tasting vouchers, these can be used in our Leigh shop for retail purchases.

Today we attended a funeral to say goodbye to our longest serving customer, Michael Barwis, more frequently known as Gran Miguel, Darjeeling Mick, Piano Mick, Mike the bike….to us he has always been “Rioja Mick”

Mick was the first person through the doors of Vino Vero when we first opened on 2013 and he’s been a loyal customer and friend ever since. Mick would regularly ride his bike from Hadleigh to visit the shop and browse the latest Spanish products. Whilst his health restricted his bike trips in recent years we would regularly deliver w**e and Gran Reserva Brandy to his home.

Mick’s passion and enthusiasm Spain and for their w**e and Brandy was unrivalled, he would host w**e tasting sessions in London and later in Essex under his own w**e club “Los Amigos de Los Vinos Espanoles”. He even had his own phonetic alphabet using Spanish food and drink related items!

Mick and I had a similar obsession with Spanish Gran Reserva Brandy and when we ever visited Spain we always tried to hunt down unique Spanish Brandy to bring home for Mick in the hope it was something he hadn’t tried before….he had always tried them though and always had a story and a memory to go with it.

Mick - we’ll forever miss our weekly chats, stories about visits to Spain and debates about the best Gran Reserva Brandy. We both loved Cardinal Mendoza Brandy so we’ll be having a glass or 4 tonight in your honour 🥃
