Coffee & vodka, that “wakes you and then f***s you up.”

What Is It?

The Espresso Martini is a mix of vodka, coffee liqueur, espresso, and sugar, shaken hard until cold and smooth, then topped with that signature crema.

It's not a true martini in the classic sense, but it is one of the modern greats.

Bold enough to feel indulgent, but sharp enough to keep moving.

Part cocktail, part second wind.
For when the night's warming up and going home feels wildly unnecessary.

We’ve paired this one with: “ASHADWA” by THE ETHIOPIAN BROTHERS. Think Ethiopian jazz meets heavy afro-funk.

This bank holiday weekend, we’re raising a glass to 59 years of Leeds West Indian Carnival.

The first of its kind in Europe, born in Chapeltown back in 1967, and still the reason so much of what we love at Smokestack exists. The reggae, the soul, the sound systems, the bass rolling through the streets every Bank Holiday Monday.

This one's simple. Thank you, to the people who built it and to everyone who keeps it going.

Happy Carnival, Leeds.

Some weekends just line up perfectly. National Mai Tai Day, Leeds West Indian Carnival, a bank holiday, and nobody setting an alarm for Monday morning.

The city’s in full carnival swing, so we’re leaning in with rum cocktails done properly and a Roots and Reggae night at Smokestack.

Come carry the weekend on with us.

Carnival weekend calls for a certain kind of selector. Bo Shak-ras is that man.

He started out MCing in Paris at 16, raised on James Brown and French hip hop. By 20 he was deep in sound system culture and had found his way to roots and reggae.

Came to England in 1996. Ran with the Riddition sound in Sheffield, then built his own in Leeds: Pacifist Conquest Coexistence, going since 2000. Free parties, house parties, clubs.

Studio One, Island, Motown. Marley, Jimmy Cliff, James Brown. Reggae, ska, rocksteady, hip hop, afrobeat and, in his words, whatever the room wants.

Roots and Reggae. This Sunday, 10pm til late. 🔊

The rhythm of a proper night happens over two floors at Smokestack.

Settle in early downstairs for conversations over cocktails in a relaxed setting, then head upstairs to the Roost for more drinks and a dance to the vinyl tunes spinning on the decks till the early hours.

Come for the cocktails, stay for the dancefloor. 🍸🎶

It’s Leeds West Indian carnival this weekend, and we’re changing things up with something that hits a little different: It’s Roots and Reggae night this Sunday @ Smokestack. 🔊

Proper cocktails. Heavyweight reggae tunes on vinyl. A packed dance floor. Two floors, one big night. And no alarm clock Monday morning.

Make it a proper bank holiday weekend to remember. Head down to our place this Sunday. 🍹🥁

🥃 Rum 🤝 Smokestack 🎶

Rum runs through Smokestack's whole story. It goes hand-in-hand with funk and soul music, while cocktails like the Hurricane, Mai Tai & Piña Colada wouldn’t be possible without it.

Let’s raise a glass to this spiced gold liquor. Three hand-picked choices on the back bar at Smokestack. Come get one. 🥃
