It’s been a very sad week as we come to terms with the loss of our dear friend Robbie. Our heartfelt condolences go to Shirley and all of Robbie’s family.

This Thursday, 23rd April, would have been Robbie’s birthday. If you’d like to join us,Shirley and family to raise a glass in his memory, please come along to the Westgate 6pm onwards.

Let’s remember Robbie together — I’m sure there will be many stories to share ❤️

To all our lovely customers over the years, old and new. Jo and Jonathan wish you all a great Christmas. Sadly the Westgate remains shut for the time being and we are hoping stonegate will find someone soon to take over our lovely little pub and bring it back to life again. We thank all those who have supported us over our time at the Westgate. To say the last few years since Covid have been tough is an understatement but for those who have kept with us going, once again thank you. A big thank you to all our fantastic staff and sorry we couldn’t keep things going (we know how difficult it has been for you all too) We have had to say goodbye to a fair few wonderful people which all made an impact on our lives ❤️ and will never be forgotten… Great memories have been made and many many laughs and we thank you all. This was an article a few years ago. But hell if you read it it has the same meaning. Yeah you can get cheap beers from the supermarket and go home with your other half or family .. but .. BUT one day they might not be there!! And you would think oh ? Where can I go for some company ?? .. the local a place where no one judges you … but unfortunately it will be gone . Support your local pubs we/ the next landlords/ladies we need you just as much as you will at some time need us ❤️ ###

As we are heading into our last few months of running the Westgate, we thought it apt to remember our lovely landlord Mark Jenkins (Jenks) on what would have been his 56th birthday. So as a final farewell we will be holding a 70’s disco in memory of one of the best ❤️. So join us Friday and raise a glass or two 🤔🍻. As always we would love to see you in fancy dress but it is optional 🪩 💃🕺xx

Passed away on 21st May 2025 aged 67 years. A much loved Husband, Father, Grandfather, Brother and a Friend to many.

Funeral service at Glynn Valley Crematorium, Bodmin, on Friday 13th June 2025 at 12:30pm. Please wear what ever you feel comfortable in on the day as Dad hated wearing black and suits to funerals. Family flowers only. Donations may be given in John's memory to the 'League of Friends of Launceston Hospital', by retiring collection, or c/o G F Gubbin Funeral Directors, Penlaurel, Langdon, Launceston, PL15 8NL, 01566 785340.

What a fantastic week at the Westgate celebrating VE Day and remembering those who fought for our freedom. We can’t thank D.J Dave for the excellent evening he created for us, not just the music but the spoken speeches from Churchill that were played. We certainly gave him a challenge. Big thank you also to Kelly and Peter for doing the amazing job of decorating the road outside and inside with flags, it certainly made our end of town look the bees knees 🙂
