This post is much longer than usual, but please read to the end 🥰
Win this fantastic framed picture & help raise funds for two amazing Lanarkshire Charities. We will have the picture on display in the pub over the next few weeks & Raffles Tickets are only £1 each or £5 per strip.
The picture is a signed print which comes with a certificate of authenticity of the 5 foot by 4 foot painting by Robert Miller depicting a Glasgow Royal Infirmary Nurse, Anaesthetist and Physiotherapist has been mounted outside the intensive care unit of the Royal Infirmary. Robert was asked by the health board to create a piece of work to commemorate the "dedication" of the hospital's staff & on completion, he refused to accept payment for his artwork, what a fantastic gesture.
Those of you you are regulars in the Ranch will know Robert & May Miller well, as they often perform live in the pub, but chances are most will know Robert & May in any case, as they are well known entertainers throughout Scotland & further afield. You can read more on the painting here > https://www.glasgowlive.co.uk/news/glasgow-news/painting-glasgow-royal-infirmary-workers-18376396
In conjunction with our Quizmaster & Mistress, also known as The Five O'clock Somewheres, the 2 charities we hope to raise cash for is "oor wee toons" very own Larkhall & District Volunteer Group who have been fantastic throughout this pandemic. They have been supporting those in need, supplying their buses & volunteers to help deliver over 5,000 free meals cooked by Mrt Ayiku, his wife Caroline Ayiku & their Heart Of Africa UK volunteers to local vulnerable residents who had to stay in isolation in their homes all those weeks, even after most of us could start to get about again.
LDVG & their volunteers have also supported NHS workers by driving them back & forth to their work when they had no other way of getting there, a service that is still ongoing. This is just two of the many services LDVG have been providing in Larkhall & sorrounding areas & more information can be found on their page.
The other charity that will benefit is St. Andrew's Hospice, a charity we have supported over the past few years. St. Andrews Hospice is a specialist hospice providing palliative care. They provide multidisciplinary support for patients, families and carers in Lanarkshire & have been exceptional as well during this pandemic. More information can also be found on their page.
We are hoping to have Robert along to present the winner with the picture on the night, but things being the way they are right now, we cannot give an exact date. However the plan is to keep the raffle running until the end of September, which should hopefully raise as much as we all can & "hopefully" be in the position where Scotland's pandemic guidelines will have eased further & allow us to have the winners presentation even more special.
Raffle tickets will also be available from Peter Gavin, Jackie Gavin, The Five O'clock Somewheres & some Larkhall & District Volunteer Group staff & volunteers. You can contact them on Facebook for more info.
Thank you for taking time to read this post, it is much longer than our normal posts but we wanted to let you know just some of the services these two great charities provide to us all 🥰
