Our final day of Lancaster Music Festival here at the Jailor's Barrel, it's been a fantastic weekend so far so let's end on a bang! Here's who's on the bill today;

Daisy Smith - Frontwoman of local band Do You Like Worms? Daisy is an absolute ray of sunshine when she performs, and is the perfect pick me up for a Sunday morning

Paddy Rogan - Paddy is known for his delicate guitar & intricate technique. Mostly inspired by folk and blues, he's brilliant at creating atmosphere

Jamie Walker - A member of the band LOWES, Jamie's renowned for his looping prowess & funk-filled covers

Mumfy & Mitch - Local duo consisting of Graham Mumford and Keith Mitchell, their enigmatic style will have you dancing!

Diverted Traffic - This band brings a jazzy, bluesy feel to all their covers, spanning from the 1930s to the modern day

It's Day Two of Lancaster Music Festival so here's who's on the books for today

The Nighs - Indie acoustic duo comprised og Fay and Joe Robinson. Taking influence from soft midwest emo and the occasional Springsteen or three

Jackson & Young - Originals act of David Frederick and Alex Jackson, this alt-indie-psych mash up will be an interesting one! Featured recently on BBC Introducing, their first album, BE A CHEER WHILE YOU'RE HERE is available on all listening platforms

therapy - Indie-folk duo comprised of Ruth and David Frederick and known for their complex and complimentary harmonies.

Wooly Jumpers - Trad Irish folk band from Ireland, known for their energy and musicality

Duo Stringo - An instrumental duo intertwining complex guitar work from classical spanish styles to bossanova. Their new album, Duo Stringo One, is available to stream

Chris Barlow - Frontman of local band Hiroshima Tw***ie (amongst others) Chris always brings am energy and a charisma to his performances which makes him the perfect closer - you'll end your night on a high no doubt

Our first day of Lancaster Music Festival is upon us! Here's a more detailed look at our four acts:

David Frederick - A highly polished and versatile musician whose taste spans genres and decades. He's also our own resident musician, hosting our Open Mic every Wednesday. Expect anything from classic jazz standards to 80s goth bops to modern chill indie. Whatever your jam is, there'll be something for you to tap your feet to

Joe Butler - Best described as alt-indie, Bolton-born Joe is highly inspired by his Northern roots. With influences such as Arctic Monleys and Ren, his sound is sharp and interesting. He's also one half of local group Day for the Ducks, and has taken the local scene by storm in the past year

Rachel Wyche - Coming hot off a support slot on Emilie Culshaw's national tour, Rachel is a vocal powerhouse. Her influences are best described as celebrating the women of the 90s, and those inspired by them, such as Alanis Morrisette and Chappel Roan. The other half of Day for the Ducls, she's a rising star to watch out for

Alex Haslam - Better known by his stage name STRINGMAN, his set'll be filled with wholesome classics with expertly crafted guitar. Stringman always brings joy and enthusiasm to his performances, and is the perfect moodboost to end the night on and get you raring to go for tomorrow!

A couple of last minute changes, so here's our (hopefully) final line up for this year's Lancaster Music Festival! It's one of the best weekends of the year, but also the hardest on our staff so please be kind, considerate, and courteous to those working not just on our bar but all throughout town.

Fancy escaping the heat this weekend? It's (relatively) cool in The JB, and fan-favourite Loweswater Gold from Cumbrian Ales makes its return to the bar, alongside the summery pale ale Castaway from Lune Brew Co and our Old Faithful Lancaster Blonde from Lancaster Brewery, with Ribblehead Bitter from Settle waiting in the wings.

Despite several strongly-worded emails to FIFA asking them to reschedule, it looks like there'll be a clash between tomorrow's semi-final and our weekly open mic ran by David Frederick, so we've taken the unfortunate decision to cancel tomorrow's session. England vs Argentina will be broadcast in the downstairs area of the pub, and the Open Mic will return the following week

Join local Historian of the Tyldesley family, Anne Charlesworth for a free talk, Tuesday 9th June:

The talk traces the trials and tribulations of five generations of the Myerscough branch of the Tyldesley family. From the civil wars through to the last Jacobite rebellion, this Catholic family were unwavering in their support of the Stuart dynasty and risked everything for the cause.
Donations to the speaker are welcome and books will be for sale after the event:

Looking for last minute plans this Bank Holiday Monday? Our pub quiz is running tonight from 8pm - plenty of prizes to be won, including a £40 bar tab! It's the perfect way to end a busy bank holiday before work beckons tomorrow.
