In this workshop, we explore how children’s behaviour is often a form of communication. By looking beneath the surface, we can better understand the feelings and unmet needs that drive their actions.
● The Importance of Listening to Children
Why active, attuned listening helps children feel seen and understood
How listening builds trust and emotional safety
How understanding a child’s perspective supports meeting their emotional and developmental needs
● Responding with Empathy
How empathetic responses can de-escalate challenging moments and support regulation
The connection between empathy, co-regulation, and positive behaviour
●Practical strategies for modelling empathy to support children’s social and emotional development
