🚨 I’ve got loads of bunting that needs putting up and would really appreciate a hand. If you can help out, please meet me in Market Square at 1pm or drop me a message. Any help would be greatly appreciated! 🚨
It’s been good to see so many people talking about Club Day over the last few days. Whatever your view on the bunting situation, it shows how much this tradition means to our town.
Like everyone else, I only heard about the issue on Tuesday night. Rather than spending time debating it online, I decided to see what could be done.
With help from St Michael’s Church and Kirkham Town Council, I managed to get hold of loads of bunting. I booked the morning off work, put my coat on and got out there to help put some up.
For me, that’s what community is all about. If something needs doing, let’s get on and do it.
There has also been a lot of discussion about the support behind Club Day. Fylde Borough Council contributed £750 towards the event, with Kirkham Town Council providing a further £250.
I’m not interested in pointing fingers or getting involved in a blame game. The reality is that putting on events is becoming more challenging, and there will always be different views on how things could have been handled.
What matters now is making sure Club Day is a success. The children taking part in the procession deserve to see the town looking its best and to have plenty of people lining the streets to support them.
So let’s focus on the day itself, support everyone taking part, and make sure Kirkham gives Club Day the welcome it deserves. 💪
