Festival of Ideas is over but we are not stopping.... Join us this Friday for a special evening of poetry, culture, and shared heritage! ✨📚

We are delighted to welcome Derrick McClure and Tom Hubbard to mark the publication of a remarkable anthology celebrating the literary connections between Poland and Scotland.

The evening will feature live poetry readings in both Polish and Scots, bringing to life the beauty, depth, and spirit of two rich literary traditions.

This unique collection spans poems from the Renaissance to the present day, beautifully reimagined in Scots by a talented group of translators. It highlights the deep cultural and historical affinities between Poland and Scotland – nations shaped by resilience, identity, and a profound love for their people and land.
Expect an intimate, reflective, and inspiring evening celebrating language, culture, and shared heritage.

Iain Nicholson is an Oxford based place making specialist. He has been appointed by Fife Council to do a study of vacant premises in Kirkcaldy town centre and to come up with recommendations to reduce the number of vacant units. Iain will explain the scope of his study and answer questions about his work. This work is important for Kirkcaldy as it will help to highlight opportunities for redevelopment and investments in commercial property.

Linda Martin is a Fife based property investor. Linda has extensive experience doing residential flips and often breaks the ceiling price for the street due to the quality of her refurbishment work. Since moving in to the world of commercial property investment, her focus now is on taking on buildings that would otherwise sit empty and reimagine them as business hubs, serviced spaces or mixed use assets that create activity, support entrepreneurship and contribute positively to the local economy.
