Running an independent restaurant has never been easy… but over the last few years the hospitality industry has changed more than ever before.
The rising cost of food, energy, supplies and staffing, alongside the cost of living affecting everyone’s spending, has made things incredibly challenging for small family-run businesses across the country. Many long-standing restaurants, cafés and pubs that have been part of communities for decades are sadly disappearing.
For independent places like ours, every quiet midweek service is felt. Every cancelled booking matters. And every customer who walks through the door genuinely makes a difference.
Legends at Steps has proudly been serving Torquay for 25 years. We’re not a chain restaurant — we’re a local family business built on hard work, long hours, consistency and people returning year after year for food they know and love.
We still believe going out for dinner should feel special. A warm welcome. Proper home cooked sauces. Steaks cooked the way you like them. Fresh fish boards. Friendly service. A cosy atmosphere where people can relax, celebrate or simply spend time together.
