Very last minute coaching session yesterday! Martin who’s on holiday from Southend popped into the Maltings Q club yesterday for some practice but ended up having his first ever coaching session instead! 3 things to improve on during the session was-
Straight cueing/ hitting centre of the cue ball
screwing back
long pots
Straight cueing/ hitting centre of the cue ball we practiced following through the white with the blue from the blue spot ensuring we deliver the cue in a straight line, keeping the head still and pushing through the white rather then stopping once the ball was hit. Martin told me he puts unintentional side on the ball, by the end of the session he was hitting centre potting both blue and white into the same pocket. By doing this we shortened the distance from the bridge hand to the cue ball. When moving onto screwing back we started with a similar drill and stayed on the blue but basically reversing the follow through.
Long pots- we moved onto a drill which allows you to get used to the common potting angles (half ball, 3/4 ball, full ball and 1/4 ball) and finishing off with a break building exercise and making sure we stay high side of the black, which ended with a 54 break which his highest so far😁
By the end Martin had successfully improved on these 3 areas and was more confident with his game which was pleasing to see and hear.🎱
Anyone interested in 1 to 1 coaching then don’t hesitate to get in touch👍🏼
