Hi everyone,
It is with great sadness that after two wonderful years at The Crossways under our management we will be calling time for the last time on Saturday 6th April.
As you know the pub has been up for sale for some time and twice I have offered what I think is a fair price given the condition of the pub and roof etc. Unfortunately the brewery haven’t even acknowledged my offer and I learned third party that they have accepted an offer from another party.
The purchasing party have made me an offer to stay on at a vastly increased rent and unfavourable terms in regards full repairing and insuring leasing which given the sorry state of the roof I cannot justify taking a risk on when it’s not owned by myself.
You have been an absolute wonderful loyal customer base and I couldn’t have asked for a more supportive bunch of regulars and will never ever forget the warm welcome you gave us when we took over. The pub has gone from strength to strength, we’ve kept it well stocked (apart from the occasional run out when you’ve drunk like fishes!), kept the regular opening hours and watched you all become a real community again. The pub wasn’t my pub, it’s always been your pub as a community, exactly what back street boozers like Crossways should be. I’ll look back over our reign as part of the Crossways history with great pride and memories. I hope I fulfilled the promises you made me make at the beginning.
Thank you to our staff past and present for the wonderful service you have provided and of course to Jax Louise Davey who has been my absolute rock since we opened. I mean, she pretty much bullied me into giving her the job (she wasn’t leaving the building until I said yes) but it was certainly the right decision to have her as part of the team. I will forever be grateful for all you have done.
So I apologise as we head to closure that some lines will run out, we will try our best to keep a choice on the bar and unfortunately due to prior commitments I’m unable to join you one last time on the final evening.
Saturday 6th April you have live entertainment with a Crossways favourite - ARIANNE. I know you’ll dance, drink, laugh, and maybe shed a tear or two as the night progresses. Raise a glass, a tequila rose, a fireball and celebrate everything the Crossways has been for the last two years. I sincerely hope that the sale concludes quickly and that a new landlord taking the reigns can continue all that is great about Crossways. I know you will continue to support it when it reopens for many years to come.
Thank you once again for your custom, loyalty and friendship over the last two years. It has been a pleasure to serve you.
