Thank you to so many who attended the meeting in the village hall on 11 July. It was a terrific turn-out: over 130 people.
It was a pity that Martin and Jackie Perrin didn’t attend. If they had, they would have witnessed the overwhelming support for our attempts to buy the pub on sensible terms and would have heard the frustration of the village with the lack of sensible engagement by Martin and Jackie. Since they weren’t there, you may wish to let them know your thoughts; for example:
1. Do you support what the Gardiner Arms Community Interest Group has been doing?
2. Do you believe that the village should buy the pub as a community asset?
3. Do you think that Martin and Jackie have been engaging with the GA Community Interest Group constructively?
4. Do you think that Martin and Jackie should permit our surveyor to inspect the pub in order to tell us more about its condition and the likely cost of repairs?
5. Do you think it reasonable for the village to insist on buying the function room and the car park, and not just the pub? Or do you think it would be OK to buy the pub without the car park and function room, as Martin proposes?
6. Does Martin’s minimum price of £600,000 for the pub alone, without the function room and car park, seem fair and reasonable to you, or do you think it’s far more than the fair market price?
7. What other things would you like to tell Martin and Jackie?
If you would like to tell them your thoughts, you can send them a message at the email address on the Contact page on the pub’s website: [email protected]
If you do send them an email, please cc us at: [email protected]
What you say is obviously entirely up to you, but you may want to cover some or all of the points above.
Although your frustrations with Martin and Jackie were clearly evident at the meeting, we would be grateful if any emails you send them are civil, as we’re sure they would be.
