Polite Request from Everyone here at The Riflemans Arms.

With Christmas Eve and Christmas Day rapidly approaching , those that do use the pub will know that it gets very busy.

Although we do welcome dogs, cats, rabbits and guinea pigs, please consider leaving your much loved and pampered pets at home for these 2 days.

Lots of people trying to move around in a much more confined space is just asking for tails and paws to be stood on or tripped over.

Unfortunately there will be no folk music inside the pub on Christmas Eve, but get your Carol Sheets at the ready for the Fellside Forum organised Carols on the Green from 6:30pm (bring a torch)

We are limited to numbers for fire safety reasons and dogs unfortunately do count as a body, in the event of.

We dont want pets being hurt inadvertently so yes, consider doing the right thing.

Entry maybe refused so dont be offended and we do reserve the right to close the door to control and restrict for the purposes of public safety.

UPDATE -

Although we are still opening at 4pm today, we do have the Carling Lager back on the bar and serving as it should be - so I take back everything you all thought about Carling and their technicians - they are the epitome of efficiency and customer care.

Guiness, on the other hand are exactly the opposite, up until this current moment 😉

Today we are mainly sad with a hint of majorly peeved off, sprinkled on top.

Unfortunately, today we will not be opening until 4pm and we will be closing early (9pm).

This is down to a cellar fault, which is affecting a couple of our products.

We have tried everything to rectify the faults ourselves, but alas, we have failed.

We are now waiting for technicians from Guinness (so we’ll see them in a month) and Carling (allegedly before Monday evening) to pop along and f***y about abit before fixing the faults.

These faults are not connected, its just one of them buses moments.

Anyhow, as we all know - we do love a good game of football at The Riflemans, but as I cant get the Carlisle game on the square thing in the corner, we will be showing some overpaid footballers rolling around on the international stage that is England vs A N Other Football Team, kicking off sometime today 🙃

Next Thursday at the Riflemans is Jazz night. Grandma’s Piano played by Pete Major with Gary Culshaw on Bass Guitar.

And yes, it really is Grandma’s piano. Grandma played the very same piano when it started its life down the hill in a lovely little church before we took it in and gave it a renewed purpose and now, Grandson (Pete) is playing it for us and really showing how good the old girl still plays a good tune.

Riflemans Sunday Night Quiz.

Q1 - Is the quiz on this sunday (27th).
A - No

Q2 - Why in gods name not?
A - Because its England Women Vs Espana Women, kicking off at 5pm.

Q3 - Will the quiz be back on for next week?
A - We hope so, but where extra time and penalties are concerned, it could be 3 weeks before a winner is decided 🤐

Join us for the football at 5pm, bar shuts at 11pm, but hopefully that wont be an issue.
