A tiny Texas BBQ restaurant in Kendal. A story that started long before any of this. And a team that now takes Pappy’s everywhere. ❤️
Pappy’s started with Robin and her late dad, Pappy, and one simple idea: to bring the proper Texas barbecue they knew and loved to the UK.
Not long after, Pappy passed away. Robin carried on what they’d started together and built a restaurant around his legacy, the food she grew up with and the Texas BBQ traditions passed down through her family.
It hasn’t always been easy.
There have been years when this little independent restaurant struggled. Plenty of moments when the future felt uncertain and times when keeping going took everything we had.
Which makes clips like these feel pretty special.
Today, our little Texas BBQ restaurant in Kendal, Cumbria gets invited to food festivals, shows and events across the country. We get to load up the smokers, hit the road and serve proper oak-smoked brisket, beef ribs, baby back ribs and Texas barbecue to thousands of people far beyond our little restaurant in the Lake District.
And none of that happens without this lot‼️
The early starts. The late finishes. The ridiculous amount of loading and unloading. The long drives, huge services, tired feet and somehow plenty of laughs in between.
Our team are the reason we’re able to take Pappy’s everywhere.
For a small family-run business that has had its fair share of moments where things could have gone very differently, we don’t take any of this for granted.
So this Reel is really just a little thank you.
To our team, to everyone who invites us to these incredible events and to every person who has eaten with us, followed us, recommended us or helped this little piece of Texas in the Lake District keep going.
Pappy’s might still be tiny. But look how flippin far this team has taken it!
If you’ve found Pappy’s somewhere on the road this year, tell us where. 👇
