Somebody did this and it is so true
A Poem For The Pubs
We have taken pubs for granted,
Expected them to alway be there.
Call in once a blue moon,
Then complain the place is bare.
"How much a pint??!
I can get two cans for that!!"
Yeah, but this is served to you,
In a glass, with a head, not flat.
"You'll get more people in,
If you lower your price."
"Put on a band every night,
And some sport on TV would be nice."
Well all these things cost money,
Sky sports and bands are quite dear.
We try our best to entertain you,
As we love having customers here.
Then lock down happens,
Pubs have to close the door.
No nipping for a quick pint,
Meeting friends is no more.
We have to stay indoors,
Isolate and be alone.
But all this drinking in the house,
Is something I cannot condone.
Drinking is a social thing,
Where we talk to friends and strangers alike.
Discuss football, politics, current affairs,
Even sing and dance all night.
Now as pubs are taken away from us,
We yearn for them to re-open.
Our old love we had for pubs,
Has finally been awoken.
We plan the first weekend out,
Over and over in our heads.
Send a text to all our mates,
So we can go and 'paint the town red.'
In the background, the pubs have been busy,
Planning what we can do to entertain.
To get the pubs booming again,
And the publics passion for pubs inflame.
Hopefully, we can open pretty soon,
With little or no restriction.
The previous rules were not very nice,
And would put the pubs into extinction.
So remember that when we finally open,
When the Government says we can.
To respect the pub, the staff and other customers,
Then everything will go to plan.
Because we miss to talk, converse and laugh,
We miss having the Craig.
We miss hugging, kissing and chatting-up,
And giving our best mates some flack.
So please remember this feeling you have,
How much you have missed the pub.
And make a promise to visit them often,
For your face to see, they'd love.
