The **Last 16, Quarter Finals, Semi Finals and Final** will be played on **Saturday evening immediately after the Team Championship**, ensuring the Singles Champion is crowned under the lights on Saturday night.

* Every player takes part in the opening **Team Scotch**.
* Every player will play **three singles matches** during the tie.
* Every player must play in at least **one doubles match**.
* Captains may choose the order of players and doubles pairings before the match begins.
* The first team to **9 match wins** progresses.
* **If the score reaches 8โ8, Match 17 (Team Scotch) will decide the tie.**
# # # Team Category Rule
To ensure the competition remains fair and competitive, each team must have a **combined CAT total of at least 14**.
**Examples of valid teams:**

CAT 2 + CAT 4 + CAT 4 + CAT 4 = **14**

CAT 1 + CAT 3 + CAT 4 + CAT 6 = **14**
Any combination is permitted provided the total CAT score is **14 or higher**.

To keep the doubles event as balanced as possible, **the highest CAT player in each team must partner the lowest CAT player from that same team.**
For example, if a team consists of:
* CAT 2
* CAT 4
* CAT 5
* CAT 7
The pairings **must** be:

This ensures every team fields two balanced pairs and gives everyone a fair opportunity to compete.

# Why we've chosen this format
Our aim is to create a festival that is **competitive, fair and enjoyable for players of every standard**.
The **Team CAT Rule** prevents teams from simply stacking the strongest players together, helping to keep every match competitive.
The **Doubles Pairing Rule** means the strongest player on each team must partner the lowest-ranked player, creating two balanced pairs rather than one dominant partnership.
The **Race to 9 Team format** ensures every player has plenty of table time, with singles, doubles and Team Scotch all playing an important role throughout the match. If a tie goes all the way to **8โ8**, the championship will be decided by one final **Team Scotch** match, with all eight players involved.
By finishing the **Singles Championship on Saturday night** and the **Doubles Championship on Sunday**, every event gets its own moment in the spotlight, making this a true **Festival of Pool**.
