That time of year when the Barbour jacket comes back out, and we can head off into the countryside for an hour or so before treating ourselves to a well-earned pint at the pub at the end. 🍺🍂
We might be a little biased, but we reckon Itteringham has some of the most beautiful walks in Norfolk. And as far as we’re concerned, every walk should be circular and always start and finish at a pub!
So, here we go… introducing the first of our favourite village strolls. 🥾🌳
THE BIG LOOP
📏Distance: 4KM
⏰Time: 45 minutes
🥾 Wellies or Walking Shoes
*Left out the pub carpark following the road over the bridge. Turn right onto Wolterton Road. You'll see The Manor Infront of you, turn right into the track. Follow the track all the way to the end. When the path opens up turn back on yourself to the left... Not into the farm though!
* The footpath takes you across a field and past Broom Hill Camping site. Please keep your dogs close or on a lead in this area... Especially in shooting season, as these are drives of our village shoot. When you get to the road, cross straight over and follow the path to the right of the houses.
* Pass the horses and down onto the road (The church is Infront of you) You need to turn right here at the road. Walk past The Driveway of the Old Rectory and into the field to your left. You'll see the path which cuts straight through the middle.
*When you reach the kissing gate turn left across the field and through another gate. Follow the path through the woods along the stream. This is a great spot for the dogs to have a paddle! Follow the path round to the right and over the foot bridge. You will then cross two more foot bridges signposted 'The Cut'
* Finally you will follow the path to the left through a gate leading onto the track behind the community centre. Pass over the stream ( another great spot for a splash) then back onto the road after the community centre on your right.
* Right at the road and back through the village over the bridge and you'll see The Walpole ahead and a fresh pint of Norfolk Bitter waiting on the bar.
Cheers! 🍺
