Apparently summer is arriving at the weekend!! Anyway we definitely have live music on Saturday night (29th May) in the beer garden with Brooke Telling, 8pm, free entry. Brooke is a 20 year old acoustic singer / songwriter from Suffolk with dreamy vocals accompanied by her excellent solo acoustic guitar not to be missed...

Yippee! The King's Head will be back open again, from tomorrow Friday 16th April. It’s the usual drill, please come round to the back of the pub, use the hand sanitiser provided, find a table in the garden, scan the QR code, sit down and wait to be served (outside and table service only). Please adhere to the current rules that state that a maximum of six people or two households may share a table and that a face covering must be worn inside when accessing the bathrooms.

Opening Times (from 16th April):
Friday 4 - 11:30pm
(food/takeaway 5-9pm)
Saturday 12 - 11:30pm
(food/takeaway 12-2pm & 6-9pm)
Sunday 12 - 10:30pm
(food/roast/takeaway 12-3pm)

Please telephone Nigel or Sue to reserve a table or order a takeaway: 01449 741434

Yes, it's outside only for a few weeks but our sheltered beer garden has plenty of cover with 2 marques and a covered pergola plus we have fresh blankets to loan to keep the cold out..

We will do our very best to provide everyone with a safe environment to socialise, enjoy our great home-made food and be entertained with a program of 'incidental' free live music on alternate Saturdays and weekly ‘open mic’ sessions from 3pm on Sundays (the play-where-you-sit buskin’ format made for a lot of fun and safe afternoons last Summer and Autumn).

Small steps, but by following the rules, maintaining social distancing, with extra cleanliness and by staying alert we will protect the NHS and save lives. Obviously, if you feel unwell please stay at home and seek medical advice.

Stay safe, keep well and we look forward to seeing you soon, cheers, Nigel and Sue.

Hello to all!

Yes, the Boris road-map has been announced and depending on..., well, just about everything, we can start getting back to normal soon. So, it's the first step today, kids back to school and we’ve taken our first gag-inducing, bi-weekly, Rapid Antigen Self-Tests - think I prefer homeschooling.

Anyway, mid-April opening outside is a definite-maybe and the Kings Head will be ready to open Friday 16th at 4pm with food/takeaway (not compulsory!) served 5-9pm, and no 10pm curfew! Surely there must be some crazy rules I'll have the misfortune of trying to enforce! Oh yeah, outside table service only, a maximum mix of 'rule of 6' or 2 households and anything else Boris dreams up in the meantime...

Our opening hours from April 16th will be: Friday 4-11:30pm (food 5-9pm), Saturday 12-11:30pm (food 12-2pm & 6-9pm) and Sunday 12-10:30pm (food/roast 12-3pm). Our beer garden is well sheltered from the wind (the weather kind anyway) and there is plenty of rain cover with two marquees and a part covered pergola.

The following Saturday, 24th April, there will be food for the soul with live music from one of our favourite local musicians Chris Francis. Starting at 8pm, Chris will set us on the road to recovery with his lively rock'n'roll, blues, country, rock and pop tunes. In addition, on Sunday 25th April Kevin Nightingale will accompany your roast dinner with contemporary classical music on solo acoustic guitar, 12:30-2:30pm.

On Sundays from 3pm, weather permitting, we will have a 'play-where-you-sit' buskin' afternoon. This format made for some very enjoyable and safe Sunday afternoons last Summer/Autumn.

We will, of course, do everything we can to minimise the risk of transmission to you, our staff and ourselves. And we've learnt a great deal since opening last July, but most importantly that a cautious approach protects lives! However, we want you to have fun, relax and socialise in a safe and responsible way without nagging you!

Stay safe and well, Nigel & Sue

Yippee, the good news is that we can reopen on Friday 4th December at 5pm with food served 5-10pm. However, tier 2 restrictions now mean you will need to order a 'substantial' meal to accompany your drink(s) inside or out! Furthermore, a table inside cannot be shared by more than 1 family group/household, outside the 'rule of 6' still applies and last orders is now 10pm with drinking up by 11pm.

The beer garden has plenty of cover and we have blankets to loan. There will be a warm welcome whether you are outside or in where there are 4 social distanced tables, loads of character and an inglenook fireplace with wood burning stove. Please come round to the back of the pub, use the hand sanitiser provided and find a table in the garden or wait to be seated inside...

Our opening hours from Friday 4th December are as follows:

Friday 5-11pm (food served 5-10pm)

Saturday 12-3pm (food served
12-2pm) & 5-11pm (food served
5-10pm)

Sunday 12-6pm (food served 12-4pm)

Please don't forget you will need to order food with your drink(s) and please telephone for takeaway orders.

Please be good and we'll be back in tier one for Christmas, opening days/times to follow...
