This Wednesday, 3rd June, we are welcoming Suffolk Trail Runners to The Margaret Catchpole Inn for the first ever official STR organised Trail run from the pub.

The route has been pre-run and the instructions prepared. This route is approximately 6.7 miles and takes in some wonderful views of the River Orwell and Orwell Country Park.

We will have The Ration Box parked outside for anyone requiring a bite to eat on their return.

There is no charge for joining the run. You may run solo or in a group.

As of just now, we have activated our subscription two days early in order to be able to show today's sporting events (come on you Saints).

Unfortunately, we have not yet managed to get our sports bar fully set up with televisions, so the reserve television will be on in the main bar with minimal sound.

Well, Charlotte and Robin have been the tenants at The Margaret Catchpole for just under four weeks, but the pub itself has been around much longer.

Saturday 30th May 1936 was the date on which the Margaret Catchpole Hotel opened. This was also the date on which Holywells Park was made open to the public.

The next ten years would prove to be monumental in world history, with the world permanent changing.

We have not been here long, so we have not been able to plan much of a 90th anniversary celebration, but we will be open on Saturday from 11:00am and are hosting a barbecue from 3pm. There is no price list for the food, but voluntary donations are welcome.

Help us celebrate the memories of the pub and the park by recounting any favourite stories and especially please share any old photographs of the pub or the street.

Thursday is Delivery Day here at The Margaret Catchpole Inn. We are restocked with our beers, ciders, wines and spirits after a busy Bank Holiday weekend.

We are introducing some new products into our offerings, based on requests received from customers.

First up is a bottle of Grahams LBV Port. This is a beautifully balanced fortified wine.

By popular request we are now stocking Peroni Nastro Azzuro. This light, refreshing lager is ideal served cold on a hot summer's day.

Our soft drink collection now includes individual bottles of Lemonade as well as individual bottles of Pineapple Juice and Cranberry Juice.

The Margaret Catchpole Inn has a sports bar set up at the back. Come and play pool and darts.

We're planning to have televisions and a sound system set up in time for Sky Sports and TNT Sports going live on 1st June.
