MacGregors Icon Spotlight: The ROMANTIC- Robert Burns
Scottish poet and lyricist, Burns captured the soul of the country like no one before him. Farmers, labourers, rogues, drinkers, dreamers and lovers all found their place in his words. At a time when many dismissed Scots language and culture as something lesser, Burns proudly elevated it.
A lover of life and the ladies, Burns lived as boldly as he wrote. He drank hard, loved deeply, argued fiercely and never polished away his rough edges. That authenticity is exactly what keeps this legend alive today.
From Auld Lang Syne sung across the globe to songs of defiance, pride and romance still heard in pubs and gatherings today, Burns became more than a poet - he became Scotland itself.
Not perfect. Not proper. Just real.
And that’s why, centuries later, we still raise a glass to Rabbie Burns 🥃
