This weekend, The Garden comes alive.

As part of our celebrations marking 250 years of The George, we’re incredibly excited to welcome some fantastic musical talent - including many brilliant local artists - for a weekend of live music.

Good food, cold drinks, great company and, *quietly*… a weather forecast we’re trying very hard not to talk about too confidently for obvious reasons...

There’s something quite special about seeing The Gardens full of music and community in a place that’s been bringing people together for generations, and we can’t wait to share it with you all.

Something is returning to The Garden Bar…

We’ve had many of you asking whether festivals will continue here.

They will.

We begin this May by marking a very special moment - 250 years of The George.

Presented by The Garden Social, it brings a full programme of artists into The Garden, with music carrying from afternoon into evening — a mix of familiar names, returning favourites, and a few new additions. We’re delighted to welcome them, and honoured to host such talent here at The George.

We’ll be sharing more about each of the artists in the days ahead.

This will be followed by two further festivals later in the year, each shaped around music, food, and the simple pleasure of bringing people together.

This is the first of The Garden Social events.

Great news!! - We are delighted to announce that The George Hotel has been shortlisted to win a Countryside Alliance Award in the pub category.

The Awards are the Countryside Alliance’s annual celebration of British food & farming, enterprise and heritage through our small hard-working businesses. The awards are now in their 19th year and have become the definitive rural business award to win. They are set apart from other award schemes because they are driven by public nomination, offering customers the chance to tell us why their favourite businesses are worthy of national acclaim.

Winners will be chosen via a public vote in February.

!Closed Tonight!

Tonight the capes are on and the bar is off. We’re closing for our staff Christmas party to celebrate the real superheroes of The George.

From saving the day on busy services to keeping everything running smoothly behind the scenes, this team does it all - and tonight, they’re off duty.

We’ll be back open tomorrow, slightly less heroic but fully operational.

Thanks for bearing with us and for supporting our brilliant superhero crew.
