We need your help!!! We are planning a world record attempt for next years Ilfracombe carnival!!! Let go big Ilfracombe…. I’ve emailed Guinness world records to clarify the number of people gathered dressed as penguins at one time… I believe it currently stands at 972 which we believe is more than achievable.
Do you own a local business which would like to participate? Are you working in local nursery’s or schools that could possibly make your own outfits as part of the school curriculum? You could be a Guinness record holder and part of the longest carnival in ilfracombe history .., let’s make it happen people… send us a message if your interested and we can get things moving

The time has come…. The Hip is dead, long live the Ship. Most of you already knew we would be closing after this summer but it wasn’t supposed to be this early… it’s been a very tough year for trade with rising food costs, wages a massive down turn in visitors and to be honest I really want to get into @ The Ship and Pilot full time where I know we can do some really good things.
I would like to take this opportunity to thank every single one of you who helped us get to where we are today… from the Mannix family who we bought the premises from to the people that helped us finance the purchase while we waiting for our mortgage ( I would name you all but several of them asked us to not mention them personally) the staff over the years have been amazing some of which will still be with us at the ship and pilot and at the crown duels and lastly all the wonderful customers and now friends that have been there through this journey.
We are not selling up and we are going to live in the hip for the foreseeable future making new memories with the kids and grand children.
Again thank you all so much for everything from Val, Nic and Family 🍺🍺
