🌒✨ ECLIPSE EVENING AT LARKSTONE ✨🌒

Tomorrow evening, we’ll be settling in for a pretty special view from Larkstone as the eclipse takes place over Ilfracombe! 🌙

🍕 FOOD
Our full main menu will be available from 12pm–4pm, followed by pizzas, burgers, hot dogs & chips from 4pm onwards.

🕶️ ECLIPSE GLASSES
We have a LIMITED number of eclipse glasses available for customers only. These will be handed out 10 minutes before the eclipse. 🫶🏼

We strongly recommend bringing your own if you can, just to make sure you don’t miss out!

📷 CAMERA OBSCURA EXPERIENCE

To mark the moment, the Ilfracombe Photography Festival team will be setting up their camera obscura in the Larkstone garden.

Come along, meet the festival team and have a go completely free of charge! It’s a brilliant, hands-on way to explore one of photography’s earliest principles while safely experiencing the eclipse.

🪑 NO BOOKINGS
We’re expecting it to be a busy one! We won’t be taking table bookings for this particular evening, it’ll be walk-ins only, so come down early, grab a drink and get yourself a good spot.

🍹 BAR OPEN AS NORMAL
The bar will be fully stocked with plenty of refreshing beverages to see us through the evening…

Eclipse begins: 6:17pm
Most sun coverage: 7:15pm
Finishes: 8:08pm

🌞 Something pretty special is happening in our skies tomorrow evening… 🌘✨

On Wednesday 12 August a spectacular partial solar eclipse will be visible from Ilfracombe, with the Moon passing in front of the Sun.

And if you want to catch it, Ilfracombe has some pretty amazing places to watch…

📍 Hillsborough – head up high for those sweeping coastal views
📍Lantern Hill – a beautiful spot overlooking the harbour
📍Capstone Hill – panoramic views across the town and sea
📍Larkstone Café – grab a drink and find a spot with a view
⛵Ilfracombe Princess – why not experience it from the water on a sunset cruise?

The eclipse will begin in the early evening, reaching its maximum at around 7.10pm, so choose somewhere with a clear view towards the west.

⚠️ WATCH SAFELY!
😎 Use proper solar eclipse glasses that meet the appropriate safety standard, or observe the eclipse indirectly using a simple pinhole projector.

☀️ One easy method is to make a 1–2mm circular hole in a piece of card and allow sunlight passing through it to project an image of the Sun onto a light-coloured surface. Do not look through the hole at the sun.

As Larkfest draws to a close, we just want to say a massive thank you to every single person who made this weekend what it was… absolutely incredible. ❤️

What we witnessed this weekend wasn’t just a little festival, it was a community coming together. Seeing families making memories, friends dancing, children laughing, local musicians showcasing their talent, and everyone simply enjoying themselves made every bit of hard work worthwhile.

To everyone who bought a ticket, grabbed a drink, ate with us, supported local traders, cheered on the bands, volunteered, performed, or simply came along with a smile on their face… thank you. You made Larkfest exactly what we dreamed it could be.

A huge thank you also goes to our amazing staff, security, medics, entertainers, suppliers and everyone working behind the scenes. Events like this simply couldn’t happen without you.

Thank you for bringing Larkstone to life, supporting local, and helping create something really special.
