A tucked-away bench on the Garrison. For one guest, a whole family memory.

Lesley Wilkinson kindly shared this photograph with us, remembering sitting here with her sister and granny around 1965. She still has a photograph of the three of them on the bench.

It’s lovely how a little corner of Scilly can hold a story that stays with you for decades.

With the weather turning cooler, it feels like summer has said its goodbyes. Cosy season is here, and our hearty favourites are just the thing.

There’s still time to join us before our restaurant closes for the season after service on 25 October.

🍽️ Monday-Saturday: 6-8.30pm
🍽️ Sunday: 12.30-8pm, with two- or three-course options, including roasts.

🦭 Some holidays are about ticking things off. This one apparently isn't. Not judging by the seals, anyway, who seem entirely unbothered by itineraries, schedules, or anyone's need to be somewhere by lunchtime.

And that's generally the pace of life on a Scilly holiday. Boat trips run to the tide rather than the clock, the walks take as long as you fancy, and nobody's rushing you off to the next thing.

Back at Tregarthen's, a proper dinner and a glass of something good is waiting, whenever you're ready for it. No rush - the seals wouldn't have it any other way.

Just a stroll from the quay

Step outside and the boats are already waiting - off to Tresco, St Agnes, wherever takes your fancy. Back in plenty of time for a proper dinner and a glass of something good, watching the light change over the harbour.

No taxis, no timetables, no long walk home.
