The very last of the few. Rest In Peace Sir. Per Ardua Ad Astra

We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of John 'Paddy' Hemingway DFC, the last surviving pilot of the Battle of Britain.

Originally from Dublin, John joined the RAF shortly before World War Two and trained to become a fighter pilot. He then took to the skies for three-and-a-half-months, defending against a large-scale assault by the German air force.

John’s incredible legacy serves as a powerful reminder of the sacrifices made by the Second World War generation.

Our thoughts today are with his loved ones 💙
