te. This passion for quality extends into 'Red Beard's Pizza Menu', all freshly prepared and cooked to order in our stone base oven. The Malt Shovel Loves it's music, there is recorded music at all times, Open Mic Nights twice a month, Live bands every Saturday (they're as fussy about choosing the bands as they are the products!) and other music events throughout the year. All of this is driven by Sam, Marie-Clare and their excellent staff who are always pleased to see you and to make the most of your visit.

Incase you fancied it, The Guvnors are blasting their 90's and 00's Grunge and Rock covers in The Rock, East Street, this evening. Live and Loud from 8.30pm. Would be lovely to see some friendly faces there. That is if your ears have the survived the EPIC show that 'The Rattlebacks' put on last night at The Fermentarium! We were blown away by the show that they put on, and reckon that Alex (new frontman) knocked it out of the park! Also loved the support from 'Delerium, Delerium', there's an obvious bias (it being our son and his cousin in the band), but if youngsters are making music that sounds like that, we're here for it! See you at the bar x

Not the "Happy New Year" post that I would like to be making. We do sincerely wish you all a Happy New Year, but do also have to share the sad news of Bub's passing. Bubs was a larger than life character, often divisive, but always big hearted. He played at The Malt Shovel many times, and always brought passion and a great love of music. He often came in to support other bands, even when health issues made it hard to do so. He was a part of the music scene for decades, and played with pretty much all the local legends. I shall miss him. I shall miss putting him in his place, I shall miss hearing his back handed compliments through criticism, I shall miss his endless love of music, I shall miss his smiling face. Love you Bubs. Rest in loud endless music mate x

Hi all, long time no see. Just a quick message to tell you that we love you all, we're still here and, yes, we are looking for a new site. As you may have noticed, we have changed to page name to the company that runs all our bars. We will use these socials to keep you up to date with any developments in the future. Sitting here, in the garden, after the craziest Monday of my life (no, I haven't gone to bed yet). I am am not full of sadness, I am full of love. Myself, Marie-Clare and our family do not want to leave The Malt, but that is simply what "is". The love shown to us over the last 3 months, especially tonight, and this last week, is breathtaking and overwhelming. The tears, the laughter and the astounding sense of community is humbling to say the least. We have had a blast! Our family has been blessed in SO many ways. We thank you, we Love you and will ALWAYS be here for you xx 😘
