Stack Real Ale Cafe is the place to go for good beer in Hornsea - the only Hornsea venue in the 2026 CAMRA Good Beer Guide!

There are four continually rotating real cask ales so it’s like a permanent beer festival!!

If you’re a CAMRA member please check your emails and vote for your favourite real ale venues to be entered into next year’s book.

Thank you to everyone again for your overwhelming support. We’ve finally managed to get into part of the building this morning but only until 1pm to remove our belongings so if anyone is free to help shift stuff that would be massively appreciated. Thanks again 🍻

We’d like to thank everyone for their messages of support and help over the last couple of weeks but unfortunately Stackhouse Bar Hornsea will not reopen at 8 Newbegin.

We are not going to comment on the legality of the re-entry. We have already spent significant sums with our lawyers trying to resolve the issues raised by the Landlord, prior to service of the notice.

We would, however, make the following points:

1. Each and every alleged breach detailed in the notice served by the Landlord is refuted.
2. This matter has not been determined by the Court but by the Landlord and their lawyers.
3. We are not going to challenge the forfeiture of the lease or seek relief to do so will cost in excess of £15,000; money which we do not have.
4. In addition, such legal proceedings will consume an inordinate amount of time and stress, which will be better spent on a new venture.
5. We are in the process of trying to recover our belongings from the property.

Stackhouse Bar was an independent, small, local, award-winning business established from scratch almost 10 years ago. We are proud of what we accomplished, surviving the covid pandemic and remaining open when so many pubs and bars have closed due to covid/energy costs/inflation.

The 5 members of staff and the owner/founder of the business are, for the time being, without an income from Stackhouse Bar. We are having to start again.

Hopefully our ‘good beer’ and everything that makes Stackhouse Bar what it is will return; our energy is now focused on doing that, so please watch this space and most importantly, be kind.
