Welcome to June’s News
We have made it to half way though the year, not sure how it has happened and the first 6 months of the year have gone by in a flash.
National Cheese day is Thursday 4th to celebrate all things CHEESE Josh will be serving a selection of cheeses for supper. If you don’t like cheese there will be other things on offer.
National Picnic day is on the 18th….You’ve guessed it….but you wont have to sit on the floor on an itchy blanket for your picnic….FUN FACT - The term "picnic" comes from the French word "pique-nique," which dates back to the late 17th century. The word combines "piquer," meaning "to pick" or "to peck," and "nique," which can mean "a trifle" or "nothing." Thus, "pique-nique" literally translates to "pick a bit" or "a light meal" where participants share food. The earliest recorded use of "picnic" in English appears in a letter from Philip Stanhope, the Earl of Chesterfield, in 1748, where he describes a gathering that included food and conversation . The term became more widely used in English by the early 19th century, particularly to describe outdoor meals. What do you like in your Picnic?
