🚨 URGENT-MONROE’S NEEDS YOUR HELP… BEFORE WE’RE ALL FORCED TO START GOING TO BED AT 9PM 🚨
Right, Hitchin. We need you. ❤️
Our beloved Monroe’s is currently at risk of having its hours reduced or, even worse, being completely shut down… because of ongoing noise complaints from one neighbour.
Now, we’re not saying we’re the quietest place in Hitchin. We’re a bar, not a library. But apparently, somewhere along the line, our music has become a national emergency. 😂
This neighbour moved in 10 months ago — 24 months after we opened — and has continued to complain about noise.
Since then, we’ve worked tirelessly with the council to reduce noise, dropped DJ nights, removed speakers and added music restrictors.
We’ve spent a fortune trying to keep everyone happy.
At this rate, the only thing left to remove is the music itself. And possibly Woody. 😂
🎵 THE 10DB SITUATION 🎵
The issue is apparently 10 decibels.
To put that into perspective, say the words:
“10 decibels.”
There you go. That’s how loud we’re apparently being accused of being.

🚨 WHAT’S ACTUALLY AT STAKE?
The council is now reviewing our licence, with the potential for our hours to be heavily reduced or the bar to be shut down.
That would be devastating.
Monroe’s is Woody’s livelihood. A true one-man band, built from the ground up, supporting his family and employing people.
We’ve always worked hard to run a safe, welcoming and well-managed venue. We respect our neighbours, we listen to concerns and we have made serious changes to try and resolve this.
We even won BEST OVERALL BUSINESS IN HITCHIN LAST YEAR for a reason. ❤️
We’re not perfect. Nobody is. But we genuinely care about this place and the people who come through our doors.
