Important Notice
We are deeply saddened to have to share this news, but after 8 months of running Icons Bar, we have made the difficult decision to close our doors permanently.
Since opening, we have faced ongoing and serious issues with the property. There have been multiple occasions where we’ve had to close due to blocked pipes that run above our ceiling and toilet water from the flats above—coming through the ceiling and down the walls into the bar. This presents a significant health risk. Although we contacted the landlord each time and repairs were attempted, the problems kept recurring, suggesting the work was not properly carried out.
We also experienced repeated issues with the toilets. Despite three separate repair attempts arranged by the landlord, the problem persisted. We eventually brought in our own plumber, who identified a cracked toilet—something that should have been immediately obvious.
On several emergency occasions, we were unable to reach any of the three landlords. Despite all the disruption and forced closures, we were not reimbursed and were still required to pay the full £2000 rent each month, without any consideration.
When we first took on the venue, it was in a very poor condition, covered in builders’ dust and requiring three full weeks of cleaning up the dust alone.
That said, we did have six amazing months filled with great memories and fantastic live acts. We are truly grateful for all the support you’ve shown us—it has meant everything.
Unfortunately, due to the ongoing issues caused by poor construction of the flats above, we can no longer continue. This has not been an easy decision, but it is one we feel we have no choice but to make.

It was sad to lock the door on this business and to think it may stand empty for a long time again.
