Step outside our door & you’re instantly wrapped in some of Northumberland’s most beautiful walking routes.
Here is some of our favourite:
1. Warden & Meeting of the Waters (Easy Loop)
A gentle circular walk from the Boatside Inn down to Warden Bridge where the North and South Tyne meet.
Distance: ~1.5/2 miles
Time: 45
Highlights: Riverside views, peaceful paths, perfect for a relaxed stroll.
Route: Head towards Warden Bridge, follow the riverbanks, loop back via the country road/path.
2. Fourstones Circular (Moderate)
A countryside loop through farmland and riverside paths towards Fourstones village.
Distance: ~4–5 miles
Time: 1.5–2 hours
Highlights: Rolling views, mixed terrain, classic Northumberland countryside.
Route: Leave the inn towards Fourstones, follow public footpaths and return via riverside paths.
3. Hexham Riverside Walk (Easy–Moderate)
A scenic walk following the River Tyne into Hexham town.
Distance: ~2.5/3 miles one way
Time: 1–1.5 hours each way
Highlights: River views, Hexham Abbey, cafés and shops.
Route: Follow the river east towards Hexham, return the same way or via nearby paths.
