After a morning exploring Hexham’s history, head a few minutes out of town to Warden and finish the day with lunch, dinner or a drink at The Boatside Inn.

This September, Heritage Open Days are bringing some brilliant local history to life across West Northumberland, including the exhibition at Hexham Abbey, with multiple dates available and no pre-booking required.

On Saturday 12 September, you can also explore somewhere normally closed to the public with the House of Correction Tours at Hexham Old Gaol — advance booking is required.

Lights, camera… catering! 🎬

We’ve loved welcoming Riversmeet Productions to The Boatside Inn this week while they film the short film B Leek in Warden.

Our team has been busy looking after the crew with buffet breakfasts and lunches for up to 40 people, helping keep everyone fuelled during filming.

With scenes being shot around the area — including The Boatside Inn car park — we’ll definitely be keeping an eye out when the film is released… 👀

Breakfast is back at The Boatside!

There’s nothing quite like waking up to a proper breakfast, especially when you’ve got a day exploring Northumberland ahead.

Our staying guests can now pre-order breakfast the night before, Wednesday to Sunday, ready for the following morning.

Choose from a freshly cooked breakfast, continental breakfast or a takeaway option — perfect if you’re heading off early for a day of walking, fishing or exploring Hadrian’s Wall.

We’re usually closed on Mondays… but we’re making an exception for the last Bank Holiday of summer!

The Boatside will be OPEN on Bank Holiday Monday, 31st August, so make the most of that extra day off and come and spend it with us.

Take a walk along the river, enjoy a drive into the Northumberland countryside and settle in for a delicious lunch, followed by a cold refreshing drink in the beer garden.

With the summer holidays almost over, it’s the perfect excuse for one last summer day out with family and friends.

Well… we weren't expecting this!

Apparently, if you're travelling the A69 between Newcastle and Carlisle or vice versa, there's one little country pub you shouldn't drive past…

The Boatside Inn has been named the BEST PUB on the A69.
