Horse & Groom, Rushlake Green 17th Century traditional pub set in picturesque Rushlake Green. Open for drinks, lunch and dinner.

Believed to date back to the 17th century the Horse & Groom was originally used to house local farmer workers, with the increase in horse drawn traffic using the old Hastings Road the property was utilised to offer weary travellers a place to rest and stable their horse ready for their onward journey. It then, and has to this date, become known as the Horse and Groom .​

After a succession of brew

ery and private owners the pub has now returned to the ownership of a private family concern.​

Free from the tie of any brewery the pub now offers the traditional country pub fair, set in the glorious surroundings of Rushlake Green, with its picturesque village properties encircling the village green, centre of the villages attraction and host to many winter and summer events. The pub with it’s large private gardens offers a friendly and secure environment for families. Garden benches and parasols enjoy beautiful views over the adjoining rolling Sussex countryside. Inside can be found a private dining room for lunches and evening meals and the bar and saddle room offer a relaxed setting for bar snacks, light meals and drinks with a selection of real ales, beers, wines and spirits. ​

Our friendly team are here to welcome all and whilst you are welcome to drop in bookings for tables inside and out are highly recommended .​

Just a quick reminder that our kitchen will be closed this week due to our chef taking a well earned break. We are open as normal for drinks, so pop by and enjoy a pint, a glass of wine, a gin or just an ice cold coke with us.

Our fantastic chef is having a well deserved break next week. So our kitchen will be closed from Wednesday 24th April and then reopening on Wednesday 1st May ready for the busy summer season! 😎
